How I Help
I have an integrative, holistic approach to treatment that includes everything from diet & lifestyle, supplements, and herbs to medications, always tailored to your needs, circumstances, and preferences.

Botanical medicine
I love using herbs of all varieties, and bring the best of traditional herbal medicine and modern scientific research to prescribe herbs. Botanical medicine proves effective in many conditions and often offers fewer side effects and more holistic support than pharmaceuticals.

Hormone therapies
From thyroid to reproductive hormones, sometimes our bodies fall out of balance. I use hormone replacement therapy for men and women when appropriate including thyroid hormones, testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone.

Prescriptions & medication management
I am educated in and licensed to prescribe all drugs that are not on the controlled substances list. I can provide support in reducing or discontinuing medications when appropriate and in managing side effects. See FAQ for more.
Diet, Nutrition, & Supplementation
Diet and nutrition are foundational for health, and I believe that food is medicine. I review your current diet, test for deficiencies if indicated, and recommend dietary changes and supplement support, including comprehensive supplement guidance and management.

Lifestyle optimization
How you spend your time matters. We complete a comprehensive review of sleep, movement & exercise, time outside, and daily habits to understand you and your lifestyle, and work together to align your lifestyle with your goals.

Counseling
Counseling is woven into every visit and encompasses not only social and emotional support, but also how treatment integrates into your life and education about what we are doing and why we are doing it.

Meet Dr. Matt
Your Naturopathic Physician

Dr. Matt Baran-Micke, ND
I grew up in Kitsap County using both conventional and alternative medicine. In college my curiosity drew me to human biology, and a career in medicine became an obvious landing place. My skepticism of our medical system drew me to Naturopathic Medicine, and I never looked back.
After graduating from Bastyr University I started my practice here in 2021 so I could bring the type I care I wanted as a patient to my community.
Outside of the office I'm a parent and a husband and spend most of my time enjoying life with my family. My wife and I founded and continue to operate a medicinal mushroom supplements company, Lucidum Medicinals, which occupies the other half of my professional time.
What care with me looks like
The first visit
Intake & testing
I take a thorough health history and discuss your health concerns in depth, sometimes followed by a physical exam. Most of the time, we will run labs to gather more information on new and ongoing concerns, and general health.
Second visit
Integration and treatment planning
Together, we review and integrate what we've learned so far, and work together to craft a treatment plan based on your needs and preferences. Treatment plans can include herbs, supplements, diet & lifestyle strategies, new medications or refills of current medications, further testing, and referrals to specialists if required.
Ongoing care
Achieving and maintaining health
I usually follow up within 1-2 months to see how you're doing, complete additional testing, and modify your plan as things change. After that, it all depends on you - how you're doing, what's working, and what else I can do to help.
Become a patient
Starting the process is easy - confirm insurance & fees, schedule online or by calling the office, and we'll take it from there.
